@nabihamusic Nabiha’s 4th top 10 Airplay hit ‘Never Played the Bass’ expanded Nabiha’s audience and established her as a unique figure in soul pop. With the quirky new single, ‘Mind the Gap’, she went straight to no. 1 on airplay and it cements her position as well as hints at what is in store on her upcoming second album. The Danish singer has moved into a new league within the last year. Significantly, the release of her first international album ‘More Cracks’ saw her cooperating with household pop names as well as spawning the hit singles ’Deep Sleep’, ’The Enemy’, ‘Trouble’ and ‘Never Played the Bass’. Another major step was her winning this years European Border Breakers Award 2013. The tricky title ‘Mind the Gap’, offers Nabiha’s trademark: Life-affirming soul pop music with focus on the good song, attention to detail and room for the peculiar. - The title was inspired by numerous trips to the studio because on the London Underground you are greeted with ‘Mind the Gap’ signs at each station, making you aware of the gap between the train and the platform. At the same time, it refers to the space between her front teeth. ’It is a huge part of me, and in many African countries it symbolizes ‘good luck’. So the message is that we must take care of each other and ourselves, so everybody arrives safely to their destination’ says Nabiha. Nabiha has written the track along with her regular writing partner Carl Ryden and also Michelle Escoffery and Will Simms. Nabiha’s distinct sound along with her West African roots and her colorful upbringing in Copenhagen has shaped her as a unique female figure in the world of pop and soul. Her latest triumph was the single ‘Never Played the Bass’ which made it to Number One on the Break Out Billboard Club Chart in the US, Number Two on the UK Urban Chart and Number Three on the UK Club Chart and Number One on several European charts including Hungary and Bulgaria. It also caught the attention of famous blogger Perez Hilton. In Denmark she has received nominations at the biggest award shows in categories such as ‘New Artist of The Year’, ‘New Talent of The Year’, ‘Female Artist Of The Year’, ‘Listeners Hit of The Year’ and ‘Urban Hit of The Year’ to mention a few.
