nateHello, my name is Maksim. I am 12 years old and I have Type 1 Diabetes. I am going into grade 8. I enjoy going to school and my favourite subjects are math and science. I like to invent things. I like to play soccer and jump on the trampoline. I swim, do gymnastics and in the winter I like to snowboard. Diabetes doesn’t stop me from doing the things I love to do, and it doesn’t stop me from playing with my friends. BUT I always have to be prepared. I don’t go anywhere without my emergency kit….a juice, my tester, a snack and my cell phone. That is what having diabetes means…always being prepared for the lows…always carrying supplies to stay safe and healthy. I can never forget, my life might depend on it. I have had Type 1 since I was 5 years old. What we have learned through the years is that Diabetes is a big responsibility and even if you can manage your diabetes well, there are still going to be problems. Pumps and sensors are great and we have come a long way to be able to be healthy and live as normal as possible…But what we need is money, research, people who care enough to fight for us…..what we need is a CURE!!! Help my Team...MAKS WALKERS by supporting our Walk. Together Type 1 can be Type NONE!!! jdrf.ca/donate/maks walkers
