Many police departments across the country have an oversight board such as a Civilian Review Board to review actions by police to help bring transparency of the agencies. The original Civil Service Board was drafted and written in 1953 because of corrupt politicians running and controlling city employees including the police to do their biding. The law has been amended several times over the years at the request of politicians. Imagine that ! If you read the shared link I have provided at the top of the thread you will see that only a few work actions can be taken to and be heard by the Civil Service Board. Both the City of Asheville and the City employee can appeal the decision if they do not agree with the Civil Service Board findings. The last attempt to eliminate the Civil Service Law there was a Blue Ribbon Committee headed by Asheville attorney and former Asheville Republican Mayor Lou Bissette. It is my opinion that our liberal progressive Mayor and City Council members who run for office and claim to be for the working class, for living wages, affordable housing and scream and Demonize our NC Republican controlled Legislation with Moral Monday Rally Cries are in reality no different than the Republicans they hate. The Asheville Mayor and City Council members pride themselves supporting teachers to keep and maintain Tenure but they oppose due process for our city employees ? Its my opinion that The Asheville Civil Service Board isnt broken our Liberal Progressive Democrats are hypocrites and therein lies the problem ! youtu.be/Rp6-wG5LLqE
