nice story carrie,but there are still grinches out there. as if i ever needed another reason to *dislike* quebec, whether its thier sense of entitlement when it comes to big government contracts or the ever endearing lure of the french *language police*,quebec never disappoints me,case in point...last week, a young mother and her sick child who just spent 5 exhausting hours at the montreal childrens hospital, boarded a bus home,as the bus pulled away, pauline tansot dug thru her purse and found $5 for bus fare,problem was, the fare was only $3 and it needed exact change. with the bus already well on its way, she offered the $5 to the driver,he in return demanded exact change. as the young mom and her sick baby quietly sat in the front row,tightly clenching her $5,the driver informed her that the *bus police* randomly check buses for persons in her situation, and sure enough,a couple blocks later,the bus police arrive for an inspection,gee, what a coincidence,the 2 officers went directly to the mom and quickly kicked her off, despite patrons willing to pay the $3...so there she was, blocks away from home,face covered in tears, with a sick baby,blocks away from her home stranded,stranded with a ticket for $219, for not having exact fare.
