[no GG please] Anita Sarkeesian: I cant watch her videos without agreeing with her, but I feel like she only tells half the story, shes convinced me that there are quite a few overused female tropes, but watching her videos I cant really get a benchmark for whether females are treated badly, or everyone is just treated badly, these are violent games and excluding females from the violence, or pretending violence towards females doesnt exist, seems worse than the current situation. All violence trivialized in video games, isnt that part of the experience? Is it possible to make a good gangster game, or a game about war without the violence being trivial? What about how trivial it is to bomb a city full of people in a game like civilization? I find it difficult to get what Anitas goal is, a little bit of industry awareness and moderation? or out-right censorship? What does she mean when she calls her self a feminist? Is she an equal-rights activist, or a lesbian separatist? It seems to me, to be the idea, that culturally, if mario was a woman mariett, and she had to free the prince from bowser, that Mariett shouldnt bother freeing the prince, because she could do better anyway. Obviously women have to put up with a lot more harassment than men in their lives and maybe what she discusses is just the icing on the cake, never the less I am a man and it would be folly for me to pretend to know.
