nobody asked for a report today but im used to doing them now:p First off, I was very impressed by the crowd, 63000 all in yellow after that semi defeat. They had the spirit, they had the energy and they were ready. Shame about the team. Basically the manager deserves the blame. Hes the one who selected a bad team and didnt have the right balance. He also selected Luiz again, and in center defense as well. I was very impressed with the performance of RVP today, it was a night and day difference from the semi when he couldnt get anything going. His control, hold up play and ability to bring the rest of the team into the game was HIGH class. Robben again has probably been the outstanding offensive forward of the tournament, except his name isnt Messi. For me the burning issue has to be an investigation into the referee. The first two decisions he made (1) not sending Silva off for a CLEAR AS DAY professional foul - which he saw because he gave a penalty for it! and (2) the early yellow to Robben- haha what a joke. we have seen hundreds of tackles like that in tis tournament not get that yellow. As soon as he realized the game was up and no matter how much he helped the host nation, they still would lose- he decided to stop it as it was futile.. a few more fights broke out but it was a pitiful crowd today. This was actually a worse performance than the semi, as the Germans caught them off guard and had the games of their lives. Holland didnt even try tonight. They were not motivated, Sniejder begged off in the warmuo with a strain and they never had to exert themselves. The Brazilian touch was abysmal, the speed with which they played super slow. And it was tactically INEPT, just run hard and shot like crazy. Teenagers play with more brains and flow. The pressure of playing at home and depending on one player was too much. One last mention Dirk Kuyt (who i call the blunt knife for his lack of cutting edge in front of the goal) played right wing back, right wing, left wing back, left back.. you name it he did it. He was the REAL leader of the team and the true captain (like Mascherano is of Argentina). But what a team player and what spirit. Before the extra times he rallied the team, when Vlaar missed the penalty- Kuyt was the first one to him to buck him up. Sadly Brazil had no such leader on the team. Afterwards we went to have dinner and the spirits in the restaurant were really down. Tonight was ACTUALLY the night Brazilian football died its proud death for now (until it rises again.) The crowd tried to convince themselves the semi was a one off, fluke event. It took 1 minute for that myth to be busted and for reality to rear its ugly head!!
