normally there is a plastic garbage bag bungie cord strapped to the opening of it so I can have the tumbler roll the items in it more flat so they get thoroughly sanded and polished, but I wanted you guys to be able to see it in action. basically the polishing media is small ceramic cones, rods, and pyramids, with a bit of a tooth to them so they act a bit like emery powder or sand paper on the items being rolled in it. I have in the past simply thrown 3 KG of 600 grit emery powder into the mixer and it worked but had to work dry and always left a dusty residue on the polished items and I couldnt polish anything other than maille or other small items in it. this special media however allows me to polish anything i want in there so long as it can roll in the cement mixer properly. I would imagine a larger cement mixer would allow me to polish breast plates completed helmets or other large things. This one is a bit small to roll a helmet in there. I tried.
