obit from Springfield Sun Jennie Lou Blandford Edelen, 72, of E. Virginia Ave., Springfield, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Village of Lebanon. Born January 3, 1942, in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Damian Blandford, Dec. 21, 1997 and Mary Aleen Badgett Blandford, Oct. 17, 2000, a brother, Joseph Damian Blandford Jr., 1945 and a son Damian Craig Edelen, Dec. 7, 1993. She was a graduate of St. Catharine College and a 1987 graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts degree, she had served as a librarian at St. Catherine Elementary School in New Haven and St. Dominic School, was a homemaker, a member of the Lincoln Homemakers Club and St. Rose Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband Jim Edelen, a son, Kevin (Nancy) Edelen of Springfield, a sister, Myra Blandford of Springfield, three grandchildren, Amanda Nichole Whitmore, Jessica Lynette Edelen and Savannah Aleen Edelen and a grandson, Dixon Craig Whitmore. Funeral mass was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sam Bidwell, Johnny Taylor, Billy Brook Rudd, Dickie Mudd, Arthur Young and Louis Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were members of Lincoln Homemakers Club, Belle Sutton, Martha Young, Dodie Polin, Marlene Frost, Betty Lou Montgomery, Betty Rudd, Norma Jean Smith, Imelda Mudd, Mary Paul Edelen and Sue Clements. Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. -
