oh well.... food for thought My dearest mother who has worked hard all her life to keep house and "take care" of the children in her care "proudly yet still somewhat humble announced to me yesterday this statement: GOD HAS SURE BEEN GOOD TO ME SINCE MY HUSBAND DIED. I hated to burst her bubble of grandiose thought, so I said nothing. In fact, her dead husband is the one who worked hard all his life trying to bring in money to her and his family. He also was a retired Army soldier, which brought in another source of income to mother and his family. Upon his death, their house was automatically paid for. Upon his death, she was then eligible to draw HIS SOLDIER BENEFITS PLUS HIS SOCIAL SECURITY benefits in which HE HAD WORKED SO HARD TO EARN his entire life. Now if you want to be perfectly honest about things, I suppose we could back to her childhood days and then is when God blessed her with a good husband, and father to her children who then was able to LEAVE TO HER ENOUGH TO KEEP HER GOING IN INCOME upon his death. There are some reasons behind some of the things that happen to us in life that has nothing to do with God blessing us with this, that, and the other. And besides that, the statement was made NOT to try and help me believe in God for myself, but to elevate her status. I am sorry to say, but it is true. Anything that I am that is truly good and righteous, mother is quickly to denounce due to the fact that I am not part of her specific church social groups and not in costume. God knows my continued works in this matter is to just keep my mouth shut on this one. I suppose everyone needs to "gloat" about something. I just feel sorry that my father was the only one in the house at the time that knew MONEY did not fall down from the sky, and that he had tread through snow and ice to get to jobs to make the money she in turn used to eat with, have electricity, to pay their bills, etc. My father was the true backbone of our family. Mother has been one he took care of and was a mate on the ship!
