ok... at least now I understand where this started .... its definitely a really touching and very emotional story! The part that kinda bothers me about what this challenge seems to have turned into though (at least from what I see here on FB) is that its more about straight up slacktivism for a lot of people, meaning that it allows them to show support of a charity or movement without actually doing much of anything to help the cause. A lot of the participants are probably spending more money on bagged ice than on ALS research, and as for raising awareness, it seems that very few of the videos (actually none that Ive seen) contain any information about the disease, how to donate, where the money is needed, or how it will be used. More than anything else, the ice bucket videos Im seeing feel like an exercise in raising awareness of ones own zaniness, altruism, being cute and comical, and/or attractiveness in a wet T-shirt (all of which are fine, but if they really dont have anything to do with raising $ or awareness, then dont pretend that they do). How about this ... if any of us really want to take the challenge, include something in your video that educates others about ALS, how to make a donation, and encourage people to go to sites like alsa.org/about-als/what-is-als.html
