ok...have to vent...I went out to lunch today at a place I THOUGHT was a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. Mexican flags, Hispanic people working...menu in Spanish...I order some tacos with enchilada meat, and I was told the wait was going to be 30 minutes...there werent many places to go besides that, so I said I would wait...I had to be back some place afterward, so i was pushing it with the time...but i took a chance. WELL...while i was waiting, i looked on the menu at the drinks...asked for café con leche. which translated is coffee with milk. what the Hispanic server brought me was black coffee with sugar in it. i looked at it and said (nicely) um, i asked for café con leche...to which she finished my sentence with, i am getting it right now. and she hands me cold milk in a little pitcher. i looked puzzled at her, asking, um, isnt the milk supposed to be hot and already in the coffee? she stares at me like she has NO IDEA what i am talking about. my friend sittingwith me asked if they would heat up the milk. she took the milk back. (i guess to heat up..) left the black coffee (which was filled to the brim) on my table. so i took that up and asked if they could pour out some of the coffee so i could have room for milk. 30 minutes later....i still am waiting for the milk and the black coffee is still sitting on the table. i went up (because ti was time to get back to a training i was in and lunch time was over) to the counter and asked if the food was ready. to which she looks at a to go container that had been sitting there for a good 10 minutes. she said did you get tacos with (some other ingredients) in it? i said, no, i asked for carne enchilada. and she agreed that is what i asked for. then she said, well he made you this. i said...you know what...no thank you. i have to leave now. please, tell him not to make my order. i was SOOOOOO confused. how do you not know what café con leche is?
