on Thursday 18 September,2014, hundreds of Ahwazi Arab residents gathered by the bank of Karoon River in support of Karoon which is on the edge of dryness due to the excessive dams construction and systematic diversion of its water course and transferring it to central regions of Iran like province of Isfahan. Despite the continued warnings by Ahwazi local environmental activists on the dangerous implications of the Karoon diversion process which not only can endanger the Karoons existence but also it will have imminent devastating consequences on life, economy of the Ahwazi people. In this protest, man and woman by forming a human chain as they keep placards with slogans and signs written in English, Arabic and Farsi called on an urgent action From FAO organization, UN, “Gary Lewis the UN Resident Coordinator in the Islamic Republic of Iran” and demanded them to intervene to stop the under way process of diversion of Karoon water . They invited international organizations to stand by their side and hear their voice and assist them in preventing Karoon river from dry-up.
