on the past 48 hours: Friday afternoon my father (Ahmad Seif) suffered a cardiac arrest for a few minutes. They resuscitated him and his heart worked again. But since then he has been unconscious. We dont know how much damage he suffered in in the minutes when his brain was deprived of oxygen. Weve tried not to go public with this because 10 days ago we filed a request to the Public Prosecutors Office for permission for Alaa and Sanaa to visit Seif in ICU and we wanted to give this the best chance of happening - so we kept a low profile. Just after midnight this morning a police detail brought Sanaa and she visited Seif in ICU. And half an hour after she left another police detail brought Alaa to visit. And, despite all the pain, we are grateful that they saw him. Thank you to the lawyers and the members of the National Council for Human Rights and everyone who helped in presenting our requests to the PPO and following up with them and with the Ministry of the Interior. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and who prayed for my father and for Alaa and Sanaa and to everyone who is putting up with our exhaustion, our anxiety and our tension. I have no idea what will happen with my fathers condition. We dont know when hell become conscious again - or even if he will. But I am certain that he is with us, that he feels the huge love that surrounds him and the prayers and wishes that are made for him. I know that he heard Alaa and Sanaa when they spoke to him in the early hours of this morning. Forever grateful.
