one of the first lessons you learn in law school, certainly a valuable lesson that will forever add value to your life as a lawyer, is the significance of the concept of jurisdiction in the administration of justice. No case better exemplifies this lesson than the case of UAC vs. McFOY where that erudite judge made a profound and consistently celeberated statement about how it is foolhardy to place something on nothing & expect it to stand. This is how he put it you cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand. I think for us in APC Benue State we placed our Party on nothing when we allowed Comrade Abba Yaro to emerge as State Chairman of our great Party. Now we have to pay for that costly mistake we all made. Abba is the most unsuitable candidate for any party position, least of all the exalted office of Chairman, & with the benefit of hindsight I deeply regret that I aquiesced in the emergence of this shady character. Benue APC is now in shambles, & at a time when we seemed so sure of changing the face of governance in our state. The lesson I have personally learnt from the last few days is that what is bad, unjust, unfair and immoral must be condemned unequivocally and not only when we become victims of a dubious and outrageous scheme emerging from these negative tendencies. This is the philosophy I will carry with me for the rest of my political life, & no sacrifice would be too great for this.
