one subject i find really interesting is that of lovecrafts supposed eldritch geometry. around the time that lovecraft was writing, people like reimann were discovering that two parallel lines only intersect on a plane - on a sphere they dont (they intersect), and on an hyperboloid plane (think a saddle shape) they dont (they diverge). this rocked mathematics, and was influential in einsteins theory of relativity (where space, time, and gravity - which is really just a function of the first two, and a natural behaviour of curved spacetime). lovecraft lived in a time where reality was literally being redefined. now here is a video of a sphere being turned inside-out. https://youtube/watch?v=-6g3ZcmjJ7k
