Research experience preferred but not required. Project: 2-6 month clinical trial involving research participants who require nursing care in an inpatient facility after undergoing a surgical outpatient procedure. New Grads are accepted however nursing experience preferred. Perfect opportunity to work in a clinical research facility with an inpatient setting. The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care to research participants while following and adhering to research study guidelines. Such care must be delivered in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility. Essential Job Functions: Nursing Functions • Complete clinical sites admitting procedures for post surgical study participants • Make rounds with physicians as appropriate. • Administer services within the applicable scope of nursing practice, which may include: IV catheterization, taking blood, ECG, and collect pain assessments. • Admit and discharge residents research participants.. Drug Administration Functions • Administer medications per study guidelines and as ordered by the study physician. • Verify the identity of the study participant before administering the medication/treatment. • Ensure that prescribed medications are administered according to physician standing orders. Charting and Documentation • Record and document the prescribed treatments on the patients charts as appropriate and per study guidelines. • Chart nurses notes in professional and appropriate manner that timely, accurately and thoroughly reflects the care provided to the research participant, • Chart all changes in patients condition and side effects of treatment and the response to those changes. • Chart all communications with the study participants attending physician regarding participants role and expectations during the inpatient study treatment. • Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations. • Sign and date all entries made in the research participants medical record. Care Plan and Assessment Functions • Review study treatment plans daily to verify that appropriate care is being rendered. • Verify that nurses notes reflect that the care plan is being followed when administering nursing care or treatment.
