organicchurchdc.org/lessons.html “The Brazen Altar” Part 7 “And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering.” We have to identify with the offeror – the sinner -- with the victim – the animal, which became the sin bearer. We have to touch Jesus, our sin bearer. (Leviticus 4:29) Some of us accidentally bump into God at a service and even in prayer, but God knows who is sincere. The woman with the issue of blood – she said “If I could just touch him!” She made her way to Him. He stopped and asked who touched him. Because Jesus was in a crowd, there were many people bumping into him – touching him without intention. But this woman reached out to touch him with an intent. God knows when somebody bumps into him unintentionally and he knows when someone intentionally touches him. She got his attention. When you intentionally touch him, it will change your life. Leviticus 1:9 says a “sweet savor,” Ephesians 5:2, “Jesus … an offering and a sacrifice … a sweet smelling savor.” He did away with the literal to establish the spiritual. Isaiah 53:4, 7 “He is a lamb brought before the slaughter.” Abraham took Isaac to Mt. Moriah to offer him as a sacrifice. Isaac was a man and could have overpowered his father. Isaac looked around and saw no sacrifice and realized that he was the sacrifice. Abraham did not panic, but said “the Lord will provide himself a sacrifice.” Isaac willingly obeyed his father; he went of his own voluntary will even though he probably could have won against his father in a struggle. You must willingly go.
