Now image courtesy of Google Maps. Valley Springs was established in 1872 and was originally named Lancuntster Station . A narrow gauge railroad was built in 1885 to connect the town with Bracks Landing. The line was eventually acquired by the Southern Pacific Railroad and a standard gauge line was substituted.
