oy Thought for the day: When you think about John being the cousin of Jesus, it is a marvelous fact that John could say that Jesus is God in the flesh. How many people do you know of, that would, or could follow a relative, by giving up all and following them, with understanding that they are the Christ of that age? When you are involved in family, you have been there to see their lives, and you know them as the position of a relative, and it is very hard to give up all you thought you knew, and learn from them. Why, because we still know people after the flesh, more than we do the spirit. The result is a breakdown in the social realm, which hinders Father from manifesting himself in and through people. John must have seen something in Jesus that made him, over and over proclaim that Jesus is God. As they grew up they spent time together, but it was in watching Jesus, during the years of his ministry, and how He related with humanity that caused John to understand and see the nature of Father God that dwelled in his cousin. John had to see something in Jesus to convince him that Jesus was exactly who He claimed to be. In like manner people we share with need to see the Christ Life in us by allowing the nature of the Father to be our nature. The day has come that we not just to preach the message of the Gospel but that we be the message; the revelation (Christ) of the Gospel is to be the controlling factor of the believers’ life. Jesus made the statement, I and the Father are one, and John recorded that in his writings. So John had a unique relationship with Jesus, and because of that he could pen some unique insights about Jesus in his Gospel that none of the other disciples could write.
