past 3 days my FB feed is nothing but cop hating videos, racial shit, and what I can only describe as ignorant people acting stupid and then being completely surprised when theyre getting arrested. 1 out of 10 videos is a legit case of a cop losing his shit for no reason and beating someone up for no reason. with that in mind: if the cops ask me for ID when im walking down the street, i show it to them (its happened a dozen times since ive moved to LA... and always for no reason). if i get pulled over, i dont ask the cop anything, i just show him my license and insurance and let him do what he gotta do (because i dont have anything to hide). i assume the cops have shit to do, they have an agenda, maybe theyre looking for a white fellow, mid-late 30s, and i fit the bill. it has been unnerving at times, but it is what it is. last time I was at King King in Hollywood, I took the back streets to walk back to my apartment and a cop drove behind me literally the entire half mile walk. you see those videos of peoples heads being cut off with chainsaws in the Sudan and entire villages being slaughtered by psycho leaders in remote places in Africa and shit... im pretty happy i live here instead of there. i dont like alot of the shit that goes down here, but im not adding to the problem by being a smart ass to anyone holding a gun, a taser and pepper spray. if a cop wants to cuff me, im not asking him why, im going to quickly and easily comply, because thats what ur supposed to do. i can file a complaint if im mistreated, but i cant file a complaint if i do something stupid that sets the cop off and he puts two in my chest. i will never give a cop any lip or hassle them while theyre doing their job. 90% of these videos are IDIOTS with attitude problems who arent listening to what theyre being told to do. COMPLY with the police, do what they tell you to do, let them do what they came to do (right or wrong). then, you can call your lawyer if you were wronged. thats the way this system works. it isnt the best system in the world, but until I can afford to move to Ghent or Amsterdam or Berlin, this is where I live and i think if i can manage to be polite to Popo and not flip any cops the bird while driving by them, Ill be ok. im not looking to spend my time changing the system, Ive chosen to spend my time making music. The life of an activist is not for me. However, if there is a well planned rally, count me in. Im down to join a peaceful demonstration for a good cause. But when the 1st dude picks up a brick and hurls it towards the cop wearing the riot gear, IM OUT.
