photo: Paulina Czochra Photography Love Your Body Campaign. The proliferation of the media’s influence in modern day society has, in some way, distorted the concept of beauty. Women are expected to fit into a perfect and unrealistic ideal of beauty which is dictated essentially by the fashion world. Instead of accepting one’s exterior, many women are under a perpetual battle against themselves in order to fit into the wavering standards on beauty that are projected onto us. As three young, independent and diverse women, we are proud to promote the Love Your Body campaign in celebrating unique body shapes, skin colour, features and being comfortable of ourselves regardless of any so called “flaws”. The three of us, Bishamber Das (UK’s first Asian plus size model), Komal Halai (Miss India Kenya) and Suhani Gandhi (Miss India UK) have come together as part of NOW’s National Organization for Women (NOW)Campaign to encourage healthy and happy lifestyles, to show the importance of empowering each other and being comfortable in one’s own skin.
