please read the addendum by Bob BARK president - it hopefully will explain the frustration some of you felt after seeing pics from this weekends outreach - we appreciate all of our followers, and we want you to know we understand this frustration and share it - but we are making a very positive difference and we encourage you to join us on any future outreach - it will be some of the best work youll ever do. A lot of you who have seen our posts the past week or so have expressed disgust at the way so many dogs are being treated. Primarily those chained outdoors with very little room to move around, many with lack of food and water or a bowl of frozen water with the owners standing right along side it. I hate to say it is what it is but that’s the truth. This happened this past Saturday. We have been seeing it for over 4 years and we have even lost volunteers because they do not want see it time and time again but it’s the other volunteers who have stuck with us through the good and the bad that we are able to help as much as we can. We have been almost thrown off the property when the owner told us to ‘mind our own business’. So the best we can do is move on. As I have said many times, ‘there are more pets out there that need our help than we will ever be able to attend to, so we do the best we can’. Regarding spay/neuter, we have left all kinds of literature, most probably never gets past the trash can but we just go out and print some more. We have offered free spay/neuter but in some cases to no avail. As far as Animal Control is concerned the only thing they will enforce is cruelty, lack or food and/or water and a chain of less than four feet in length. Anything else that most of us would never consider is out of their control. We will continue to place the free dog houses, continue to provide financial assistance in getting any pet fixed knowing that in the end we are providing some comfort for many dogs even if we do not get them all.
