please save DUKE! **Contact a New Hope rescue to save DUKE tonight!** Did you ever see the play “The Miracle Worker” - the play about Helen Keller’s life before her teacher reached the inner Helen? Well, Duke is NOT deaf or mute but he shares Helen’s self-imprisonment that keeps him from living a good life. Duke was obviously never socialized as a pup and perhaps he had to struggle for his share of limited resources. Duke is afraid of dogs who are leashed and he acts out inappropriately, by lunging at them. Duke’s size worsens the situation as he is a middle aged mastiff of 78-pounds. Duke has never been indulged in his lifetime so he’s learned to cope by imposing his sound and voice on others. Duke is much like the old curmudgeon who possesses a soft heart if only he would let someone near. Needless to say Duke’s life is in immense danger tonight as it is extremely unlikely that anyone will save him. Please; if you know anyone whose heart is touched by Duke’s story, tell them that time is urgent. Duke is a New Hope Only adoption and he is scheduled to die tomorrow.
