please share far and wide this is sad dumping a 12 year old GSD in the shelter for a puppy When I heard Osos story I cried, I got angry, I pledged to help this 12-year-old buddy find the home and love he deserves in his senior years. Osos family brought home a new dog, probably a puppy. Oso kind of had a hard time with it so his family did something unimaginable…they chose the puppy and dumped their companion of 12 years at North Central Shelter (L.A., CA). Oso is a staff favorite. He is sweet, gentle, house trained, and neutered. Oso has been in the shelter scared and alone for 4 weeks…hes ready to walk out the door and into your life. Watch Osos video to see how sweet and calm he is: youtube/watch?v=yUFrcCPspos. I cant begin to imagine whats its like for an older animal to lose the comforts of home, the familiarity of his family, and the sense of security and peace that come with knowing someone cares. Its up to us to make sure Oso is back in a home before its too late. He should be lying on a soft bed in a sunny spot and enjoying life…not fearing the worst. Watch VIDEO of Oso here: youtube/watch?v=yUFrcCPspos Here is the plea from the North Central Shelters Facebook page: *SENIOR ALERT* A0914168 OSO To watch a video of gentle Oso, click here: youtu.be/yUFrcCPspos Meet sweet Oso. He is a 12-year-old, 55 pound, NEUTERED male, tan German Shepherd mix. This friendly fellow was an OWNER SURRENDER because his previous owners got a new puppy and brought Oso in to the shelter because the two didn’t get along right away. Well, as you can imagine, it’s a bit harder for an older gentleman like this to relate immediately to a young bouncing puppy and unfortunately wise Oso got the boot. But man oh man, Oso has still got a lot of oomph left in him for a senior! He’s house-trained, non-reactive to other dogs, walks well on leash, extremely well-behaved and gentle, and just the perfect calm companion to add to your family. He is definitely an oso—soft, cuddly and basically a living teddy bear dog. He has been at the shelter since November 1, which frankly is far too long for an older guy who should be snoring away in a warm bed. Give this soulful senior a loving forever home for the holidays and beyond! All North Central Animals come spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on all their shots (including rabies).
