pre Federal, State and Local Government voter vent...is arthritis, particular osteoarthritis, considered a disability or an ageing process? Do you know Politicians, nearly 1 in 3 people receiving the disability support pension do so as a result of their disabling musculoskeletal condition; that 62% of people with arthritis are of working age (15-64 years), these people, particularly those with rheumatoid arthritis do not receive any help what so ever when they have time off work due to flare ups, while healthy parents are paid to have bonding time with new born babies. Arthritis can be an acquired disability, long before old age begins. There are no individually funded Australian Disability Enterprises to help workers up to age 65 with arthritis to participate in supported employment. There are no Home Care packages for arthritis sufferers if not aged over 75. Arthritis, in its many forms affects over 3.1M Australians and is the most prevalent National Health Priority condition. Who of you have the fortitude to do something about this? Please post your replies here.
