#prostatecancer RobertC update as requested by so many of you. Robert is now in a single bedded side ward to allow him some dignity and the family/friends some privacy. I have spent most of the day with Robert which may explain the lack of red sock research blogs Robert is and has been a true and loyal friend and must have the best I can give I know he would do the same for me if the roles were reversed. Robert seems more settled today the pain control is in place and working and the antibiotics have cleared most of his chest infection. His breathing is at a constant pace but pulse rate hardly slips below 132- strange but controlled breathing was one of those things we had discussed on numerous occasions. Robert has responded from time to time to whispered family messages with a squeeze of the hand but he has not opened his eyes since Saturday morning which is when they thing the big bleed in his brain happened. As I left this evening the rest of his family arrived from Middlesbrough. Tomorrow they will meet with Robs consultant to discuss "whats next" It may be tough decision time. Robert and I had discussed just such situations when we met up 5 or 6 times a week for coffee when cancer was always top of the agenda. We know about our cancers and what it would eventually do to us so that put us in control of MOST of the fear surrounding progressive cancer just optimising the time we have left and doing whatever is important to us.
