radiation update, since several people have asked- no news is good news! :) ive completed 8 treatments and have 9 left to go! the doctor said i probably wouldnt have any side effects the first 2 weeks but weeks 3 & 4 get a little tougher. all i have had so far is a slight bit of fatigue (not taking those stairs quite as easily & sleeping HARD when i sleep!) and slightly itchy skin in the radiated area. absolutely no big deal at all yet! applying my miaderm cream religiously trying to keep that skin as comfy as possible! in weeks 3 & 4, the doctor said i may experience skin issues similar to a severe sunburn, especially since i am fair skinned and had adriamycin (the red devil chemo drug) which makes my skin more susceptible. he also gave me info sheets that said i may experience trouble swallowing since my swallower is being radiated, giving me the sensation of my food getting stuck. this, in combination with my esophagus being inflamed from the rads, often causes patients to have to go on a liquid diet those last few weeks. a fellow Hodger described eating as feeling like youre swallowing glass - yippee! hahaha :) praying those side effects leave me alone and i can just stick with the fatigue ;) 9 more to go, friends, and this battle will be won! :)
