Rathmore Ladies Football Kerry under 14 girls qualified for the All Ireland A Final last Saturday when beating Cavan in a brilliant game in Galway. Kerry started the game in style by going ahead 1-1 to no score. However Cavan responded well to close the gap but squandered some chances which may have given them a greater advantage in the second half. The half time score was Kerry 1-4 Cavan 2-2. Kerry began the second half with great burst of energy scoring a goal and two point to push them ahead, but yet again Cavan came back to bring it back to a one point game. Cavans defence however were under severe pressure and conceded two penalties which were converted and put Kerry back in the driver seat. Cavan scored another goal and point in the closing stages of the game but Kerry also scored two goals and two points to secure the win. Full time score Kerry 5-7 Cavan 4-3. It was a brilliant performance by the girls and we would like to congratulate the management and players especially our four Rathmore girls Rachel Fitzgerald, Sinead Warren, Brid Ryan and Aoife O Callaghan.
