rays of sunshine on a wet, dreary morning..........INTERESTING, USELESS FACTS: 1. female polar bears care for their young for 2.5 years so are available for breeding every 3 years. that alone has kept their numbers down. 2/3s of all litters are twins but single and triplets births have been recorded. usually have a life span of 30 years but a bear in a Russian zoo lived to the ripe old age of 42! they are found throughout the Arctic which includes Canada, Alaska, Norway, and Greenland. remember: its penguins at the South Pole/polar bears at the North Pole! at present their biggest enemy; the warming climate and rapid loss of sea ice! at last count, 20,000 to 25,000 are estimated to exist in the world. they are at the very top of the food chain. they balance nature by preventing an overpopulation of seals....................... 2. London Bridge burned down in 1212, killing three thousand.(the song however, said it fell down...whatev) 3. Boston baked beans were made a day ahead by the Puritans in the Boston area, who were forbidden to cook on the Sabbath. 4. Koala babies consume moms poop to acquire the bacteria needed to detoxify the poison in the eucalyptus leaves they eat.(think I would rather just take a chance on the leaves!) 5. metal feels cold because it is a good conductor of heat, so it draws heat away from the skin. ***might be in for a long wait for sunshine today. do the best you can with what you got. stay safe out there....................later.
