re: BOTT vs BoB. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a decision to announce. The Good As I Been To You round has brought the elimination of 2 of the 3 BoB songs and the remaining song cannot claim enough points to prevent the claim of victory for our esteemed champion, Blood on the Tracks. Arriving at this verdict involved the following analysis. There were 27 songs in the competition and Fan Club members voted on which songs would move on, and which would be eliminated. Scoring was done such that the first song gone got 1 point, the second 2 points, the third 3 and so on. Mathematical music, indeed. This last round settled the argument decisively such that even if the remaining BoB song went on to knock off the three remaining BOTT songs, there were not enough points to outscore the sums that would result. The scoring reflected how close these two albums are, and assuming Visions of Johanna had remained the last song standing, the triumvirate of the remaining BOTT songs, Tangled Up in Blue, Shelter from the Storm and Simple Twist of Fate, take the score out of reach for this sole survivor. Aint it just like the night. The final score was BOTT 193 to BoB 185, although it may have been slightly more disparate if Johanna was not to finish as the top song. Congratulations, Blood on the Tracks. Your tales of romance decaying and of lost love lamented have touched the hearts of us all, and no doubt helped us each in our personal struggles with romance and lost love. Blonde on Blonde, congrats too for a well fought fight. You can hold your blurry head high. Thank you all for playing and indulging me with this exercise. It was especially satisfying to hear all the bing, bing, bings go off as my notifications evidenced your votes. It would have driven a pinball wizard to be gleeful.
