read Genesis 9-11 (see link) GENESIS 9:11 “I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” Following the flood the population expanded by way of Noah’s sons (Genesis 10:32). As their numbers increased, the people began to focus less on God and what He had done for them and built a tower to focus attention towards themselves (Genesis 11:3-4). According to David R Veerman, “The One Year Through the Bible Devotional”, it is most likely that the Tower of Babel was a ziggurat (see comments below). Perhaps your temple is a luxury car or a luxury home. Are you focussing on earthly things that bring attention to yourselves and what you have achieved? Do you need to shift your focus more towards God? ROMANS 8:5-8 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. PSALM 111 1 Shout praises to the Lord! With all my heart I will thank the Lord when his people meet. 2 The Lord has done many wonderful things! Everyone who is pleased with God’s marvellous deeds will keep them in mind. 3 Everything the Lord does is glorious and majestic, and his power to bring justice will never end. 4 The Lord God is famous for his wonderful deeds, and he is kind and merciful. 5 He gives food to his worshipers and always keeps his agreement with them. 6 He has shown his mighty power to his people and has given them the lands of other nations. 7 God is always honest and fair, and his laws can be trusted. 8 They are true and right and will stand forever. 9 God rescued his people, and he will never break his agreement with them. He is fearsome and holy. 10 Respect and obey the Lord! This is the first step to wisdom and good sense. God will always be respected.
