read Habakkuk 3:17-18: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Here the prophet Habakkuk wrote about the destruction that was happening to Judah. Habakkuk’s beloved Jerusalem was pillaged and burned in 586 B. C by Babylonians. These verses are Habakkuk’s pledge to God. He promises that no matter how bad things get, he won’t abandon God or his faith in God’s goodness and sovereignty. He promises to be joyful and keep praising God. That’s my pledge today! You too?
