really the plastic lids, blades, pencils and all other kinds of trash that we dump into the water bodies are huring these birds, and so I am sure fishes. I remember when I went to bhadrAchalam for vana-yatrA, the launch ride was very hurting to me. On one hand, all the chefs and workers of the kitchenette were dumping the wastage and washing their vessels in godavari river itself, while on the other hand, all the passengers would drink and throw the bottles, coffee plastic/paper cups, the paper plates and any other possible plastic bugs or paper as trash into godAvari. While I remember so many padyam, shloka, songs and movie songs as well personifying godAvari, kRshNa, gangA as mothers, here is this society which is totally oblivious and ignorant of these fundamentals. (sorry for beign cynical, if you find me so!) We have already seen how the animals on the ground in India are hurt and infected with the plastic and other trash that gets consumed by them in their hunt for food from the dumpyards every nook & corner. Such films are good to trigger introspection in sensitive people. But for the general pubic, the only way is to get back to Hindu principles: pray, not just chant, but by feeling the below the shloka (because भावना-मात्र-सन्तुष्टायै नमः) समुद्र-वसने देवी पर्वतस्तन-मण्डले | विष्णुपत्नी नमस्तुभ्यं पादस्पर्शं क्षमस्व मे || If with bhAvanA, we are conscious of guilt of even touching the mother earth with our feet, what a great society can be built who would conscious of dumping any trash on earth (land or water or air around) sarve janaaH sujanaaH bhavantu. sarve sujanaaH sukhinaH bhavantu.
