referendum post... i have been doing loads of reading into it over the last few days and have also been listening to wise people on both sides. the main thing that i want to see happen is not about the vote. i believe that whatever way the vote goes tomorrow, things can be better and more exciting in scotland. i would just encourage people not to lose heart if it doesnt go the way they want. and not to be bitter towards those who voted the other way. scotland will only be any use as a nation if the people in it can move past their disagreements and work together for better things. whatever happens tomorrow we will no longer be able to blame england or the westminster elite for our problems. we will have to accept whatever happens and work together. were all going to have to muck-in and face the consequences, so lets be civil and good-spirited about it. all of the great individuals and peoples of history did not base their overall victory on one days results. when things didnt work out, they continued to work for the good things they believed in. if youre making your vote because there are good and right things that you want to see happen, dont give up on those things should the result not be what you hoped for. if youre the kind of person who is going to say whats the point now? we cant do anything with westminster in power, or we are going to be lost now that were out of the uk then i would have to say that it is doubtful you are the kind of person who would ever have been able to help bring about meaningful change to things no matter what the vote. lets see this time for what it is - a special and unique opportunity that has brought to light many of the important issues in politics for our country and made so many more people engage with them, and lets move forward with hope.
