representatives of National University Commission made mockery of their assignment. The so called NUC’s Campus Security Committee exposed itself to ridicule, as the the body operated with an up-down agenda in their facts finding mission. Hence, the desired result cannot be achieve The Committee abdicated their responsibilitie s. Uniuyo Management team hijacked the entire exercise. The Vice Chancellor, DVC (Admin), DVC (Academic), and Registrar were at the High Table with the Chairman of the Committee, asking questions. An instance of an accused turning to a judge. Is it possible to achieve peace without justice? Well, it could be their mission was directed to achieving grave yard peace, instead of vineyard peace. The Chairman of the Committee aborted the Chief Security Officer’s speech and frustrated him when he was about to open the cans of worm. Justice must speak. Oh! NIGERIA! Where are thy heroes of JUSTICE? What else is behind the manipulation, if not the serpentine strategies of DVC (Admin), Prof. Okon Ansa, the anchor man in Prof (Mrs) Comfort M. Ekpo’s led administration. A man that is fixing surreptitious eyes to the seat of Vice Chancellor. This is a man with terrible track records in administration. In 1997 when he was the Acting Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Uniuyo, students of the Faculty demonstrated with placards against him, calling for his removal. His relationship with his fellow colleagues was appalling. Avarice tendency, supported by despotic and megalomanic zests impelled him to seek, twice, for the office of substantive Dean of the Faculty, and was twice disgraced. When he was appointed a Commissioner of Agriculture, his attitudes to his colleagues in the State Executive were repulsive. No wonder he consciously avoided to be in the Management team to receive his former colleague in the State Exco, His Excellency, Gov. Godswill Akpabio, a pragmatic and result oriented maestro, when he visited the scene where Uniuyo management joined the Yoruba kingdoms to celebrate historic JUNE 12. Nigerian students would not be taken for granted. Crises at University of Uyo on Wednesday June 12, 2013 that resulted in the razing of the VC’s Office, DVCs’ Offices, Exams/Records Unit, and lootings at Bursary Dept and Portal Unit was Uniuyo Management induced operation to cover-up corrupt activities perpetrated in the system. There was a protest on Town Campus on the 6th June, 2o13, caused by students’ frustrations in securing transportation to Main Campus. The problems of late registration fee of N2000.00, GST course fee of N2000.00, Faculty of Arts’ Resource Centre fee of N1000.00 and other exploitative levies were not resolved. Management turned their eyes to the “other way”. As that was not enough, transportation, nay exploitation saga. NIGERIAN STUDENTS CANNOT BE MILKED DRY! The crises started at about 7.20am and endured through about 4.30pm. None of the principal officers came out to address the students. The Chief Security Officer led a team of senior Police Officers including DPO ‘A’ Division, Mr. Moses Ali, to DVC (Admin) and DVC (Academic) to persuade them to come out and address the students. The two professors bluffed the security experts. Rather, DVC (Admin) was heard when he remarked that the students cannot do anything. And that any attempt to riot, he would close down the Faculties of Engineering and Sciences. Is this a remark of a good administrator? Students of Uniuyo where very obedient till about 4.30pm when one of their colleagues, Kingsley, fell a victim to strayed bullet and died. What then was expected when the students felt that no one cares of their problems. Aluta Continua!
