responding with an average speed of 40 mph through the city Engine 2 from the Regensburg Fire Department, Germany, responding to a trash fire at the parking lot of the infineon production facility. Arriving on scene, an Engine from the infineon industrial FD already was there and did the job, so we were able to return back to the station after few minutes. As soon as the alarm at the station goes off, the control center can switch traffic lights on the route throughout the city. Thus traffic on route is reduced, and the responding apparatus loose less time at intersecions, which allows higher response speeds and less use of the siren - but still driving safe! There are only two red lights in between: the first one being a pedestrian traffic light, which only turns red when a pedestrian pushes a button - which hardly happens there, so this light wasnt equipped with that system; And then later on after going through the underpass theres another red light. The reason for this one is, that this wasnt the usual route to the scene, but the FD had to take a detour due to some roadworks on the actual route. The traffic lights can be switched only in one direction, from the station to the scene, not the other way around or crossing these routes. At this intersection, theyd usually only come from the right side, and not like they did here, so they cant switch this one
