restored (2) 10 cast iron lids that were in very bad shape ! they spent a good 3 hrs at cherry red in the wood stove ! each will need some heavy sanding with a small angle grinder due to some 3/16 pitting ..but they will be as good as new tomorrow and will once again be cherished family heirlooms !! now how am i going to restore this 15 gallon iron pot ! im thinking outside in a 55 gal drum half full of dry,,, greyed out,. red cedar coals , they seem to generate heat far hotter than hickory or red oak and remain extreamly hot far longer .learning the olden way friends ?
