retrospective #5 (the story behind the making of the song) blue-crow.bandcamp/track/confession-of-a-questionable-mind-a-k-a-train-keep-moving this song was influenced by 3 artists and 2 songs in particular. the artist is the great Johnny Cash and his way of telling stories in a song. the other 2 artists and the songs are: 01 Van Morrison- Baby Please Dont Go youtube/watch?v=fymacb7GYDg the 1st part of the repeating lead guitar lick is in that song. 02 Rory Gallagher - In Your Town youtube/watch?v=TniIbytY6_M the basic groove and the idea of a story told by a dangerous criminal point of view was taken from that song and as mentioned before from Johnny Cash. the song was written as a redemption song of an out law who is on the train to be judged in the court of God after he was executed for his sins and crimes and the lyrics are his defence plea that he is gonna give in that heavenly court (you can read the lyrics of the song in the BandCamp page). but the song has some warning signs in it for all of us as a society. those who say that the capitalism is better with no regulation and no need to pay taxes or social economics should take this song in mind. those who are born to a rough world should not carry that burden on their slim shoulder. becouse if we are as a society send them to live by the jungle law we shouldnt be suprised if they act on us by the jungle law. if they left alone in the world we shouldnt expect them to have empathy and sympathy for others. the song is sung with (more than usual) noticeable accent as a tool to create detaching feeling from the hero of the song and symbol the sense of alienation that the hero felt all his life. in my eyes he is a mutation that the sociopath selfish mindset formed. not only his sociopath selfish mindset but our sociopath selfish mindset as a society has formed and created. keep that in mind when you are listening to that song. thanks!
