Because, as you know too well, the periods of high creative productivity is no match for times that you have had to spend either in manic confusion or in the despair of depression; the kind of depression that makes 20% of bipolar people take their lives through suicide. another article, that i dont really think is notable besides this, started with the line When a person chooses suicide, it’s hard to accept that choice. and i think thats something ive struggled with. ive rarely been suicidal, but many people i love with similar struggles are with a greater frequency. almost all of us have personally known someone else with a struggle who has committed suicide. it feels like something that, on some level, i feel the need to respect - these are important and wonderful people and while its something i want to avoid, i feel like its important to understand vs. marking their last moments as a failing on their part..
