The authorities claimed they had probably run away from home, or may have been murdered after the torso of a young boy was found, but Frances was convinced that Clifford had been abducted by his estranged father, Tex Sherwood, whom she had a difficult relationship with. After Frances and Tex divorced, he took their four daughters with him to a different part of Canada. In 1962, he dropped from sight and would not come in contact with any of his family members until 1976 when his daughter, Colleen, found him at a hotel under the alias Edward Thorne. He then told her that he had been using that name in order to get into the military and was also using it after leaving it. In 1986, Tex passed away without ever telling what happened to his son. Colleen found 2 photographs of Clifford that appeared to be taken after he vanished, and also while attempting to receive her fathers military records, found out that he had written that he had never been married and that she could not see them until 2006, 20 years after his death. One interesting footnote to the case was that a drivers license had been issued to a man named Edward Clifford Sherwood in Edmonton with the birth date of March 30th, 1945. However, when police tried to locate the man, he had left town without leaving a forwarding address. In 2006, Texs military records became public property, but they listed no information about Clifford. However, what they did reveal was that Tex was listed as enlisting under the name of Edward Thorne, his real name by birth, and as having no dependents. Frances Sherwood passed away in 2009 at the age of 90. Clifford Sherwood has been missing for over 58 years. At the time of his disappearance, he stood 40 and weighed 65 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Clifford Sherwood would today be 68 years old.
