says there are three stories of note in todays HNN--probably submitted late yesterday. The first item is a piece by centrist Princeton U history prof. Julian Zelizer advocating that Congress get busy on tax loophole closing as a means of raising revenue, as he cites the idea that dealing with our red ink must entail both tax hikes and spending cuts. Enumerating a series of loophole closing ideas, he admits these might be difficult politically, yet Congress may want to do something to improve their image and raise that measly 9% approval rating. Where I disagree with Prof. Zelizer is his implying that Tea Party Congressmen might be open to loophole closing. Tea Party members represent gerrymandered districts with overwhelming numbers of Tea Party voters: they dont care if Congress is unpopular because--for them--there are no consequences. cnn/2013/11/25/opinion/zelizer-congress-tax/index.html?iref=allsearch
