It’s not an especially original title, but the success of the series so far guarantees an in-built fan base that will flock to see what happens next. The first film, released in 2011, grossed nearly $100 million worldwide, on a production budget of $1.5 million, and firmly established Jason Blum as the premiere producer of low-budget, western horror films & cemented James Wans reputation as a director who could get the job done with the right amount of style and substance. The second film hit screens in 2013 and grossed in excess of $160 million on a $5 million production budget, however, fans of the first film felt as if the second was going over old ground. In an effort to change-up the story, the third film has been written as a prequel, exploring events prior of the first two films that featured the supernatural exploits of the Lambert family. A number of actors from the first two films will be reprising their roles including Lin Shaye, Steve Coulter, Angus Sampson as well as Leigh Whannell , who goes for the triple-threat with this one, serving as writer and director. Theres new lead actors for this entry with Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott and Hayley Kiyoko, but the supernatural stakes are bound to be the same as audiences get to explore more of the Further. Insidious: Chapter 3 is scheduled for release on May 28, 2015.
