..seems impossible, but ten years ago today, August 17th, our family experienced a terrible shock..I will never forget the phone call right around the same time I am writing this... I heard my oldest sister Therese, who now too has passed, told me on the phone that my older brother had died suddenly...he had just gotten back from the NJ shore having a beautiful weekend with his family as they celebrated my sisters in law birthday. I remember leaning up against the wall and repeating the word no so many times, and I just put the phone down and cried and cried... Thankfully my son Jim was just coming in from a run, and he saw me and couldn t understand ,because when he left the house everything was fine..I heard Jims words what happenned Mom, but I couldnt even speak, and he picked up the phone that I had dropped and my sister told him...How could this be, I asked..My brother didnt smoke.. Drink....Not overweight..66 yrs of age.. Not sick...it couldnt be... But it was. And I desperately tried to digest what they told me, but it made no sense... Couldnt be.. But sadly it was....but Vic was so vibrant. So alive... So good to people.. So caring...always helping everyone... My protector always, as I was much younger, and especially since my dad had passed when I was 14..for me Vic took his place...my heart went out to my nieces and nephew and his wife and his little twin granddaughters.... What would they do?.... It is still like it happenned yesterday... Many things sadly have changed though... And if my brother was here.. Things would be different... He taught us so much .Respect... Love.. Giving and Kindness...and above all a sense of Family which he carried on from our parents.... So please cherish your loved ones...when your parents and all your siblings are gone... Trust me.. It doesnt feel good...you cannot buy back time... And I am thankful that my brother and I had a beautiful relationship as well as my sisters... And so I count my blessings that I had an amazing brother..... Who did amazing things...He carried on the tradition ofunconditional love just as my parents, Grace and Jim had taught us... Heres to you Victor and thanks for watching over us and being our guardian angel.... Until we meet again always know how much I love you...
