shared by Larry DeLashmit. Aerial Combat Assault in the Nam. Airmobile Infantry. Grunt Power! Damn! The adrenaline was very potent! The Hueys were our lifeline. It was in 1985 that I found out I came home an adrenaline addict. I never knew until then. Never got that kind of rush since. Never will. At the time, we were all filled with fear and never thought how surreal the ride was. The air conditioning in the sky was great, tho. When your with a gaggle of Hueys, accompanied by a few Cobras, and CA into a LZ, the pucker factor red lines. The Cobras annihilate the LZ just before we land. All of the 60s on the Hueys open fire into the treeline as we jump out and run to the treeline. Poor FNG sitting in the middle of the Huey, in the first gaggle, freaking out. LOL . . . . then, repeat. Over and over again!
