sharing some neat ideas... My slow feeder/ hay keeper This feeder is Home made for my two gentle giants. I chose to make the grill holes a little larger because it suits my needs. 3-3.5 ( more to keep the area clean rather than slowing the feeding process- their hooves are large enough not to pose any danger) the bottom of my box is part open for better air circulation. It had a lid which I removed and replaced by two inner boards which prevent the grill from slipping out and I added two cords instead I can wet my hay in it ( since water wont stay in it ) and since I built it light enough.. It can be moved around easily. I do attach it to a fence post so that the horses cant tip it over ( which one of ours tends to do when its empty)
