she forgot a few things... we washed cans, peeled off the labels, opened both ends and crushed them so that they would pack more efficiently saving space and sometimes they were able to be recycled. the paper would be trashed because it would disintegrate. we washed and reused aluminum foil till it was too crnkled and yuck to use anymore.. we used paper plates that could be burned in the campfire instead of styrofoam that creates fumes, most disposable containers waxed cardboard instead of plastic we ate home cooked real foods and used the leftovers. wow, so much more I just cant think of right now... we had more a green thing than now, but our parents.. wow, they reused everything.. those smashed cans were used to patch holes, and other fixings, they lived on rations, every purchased item came in a reusable container if not, they recycled or reused trash including rubber tires instead of filling landfills.. what could not be reused was burnable - that is, it could be burned without polluting the atmosphere....
