sheila and kate lyon were girls i knew, slightly, when i was a kid....their parents were friends of my grandparents..............they disappeared 39 years ago when i was in first grade and that had a profound impact on me. i cant overstate that. ive followed missing girls my whole life, in part because of them. ive written about sheila and kate. i will be writing more at some point. it appears the police believe they now know who the killer(s) are and are searching for the girls remains on a mountain a few hours from dc in VA. i have much to say about this, and about the fact that the killer now appears to be the man who a third little girl told police, the day after sheila and kate went missing, had followed the 3 of them the day before. it appears the police disregarded that, for the most part, and went with another theory, provided by a boy, instead of pursuing THE GUY WHO FOLLOWED THE GIRLS THAT DAY. its a long, complicated case and heartbreaking in every way.....but perhaps now mary and john lyon and their son can have some peace. i hope so. and i hope the world learns to listen better to girls.
