*sigh* ..... Must we have this conversation? Yes, WE must. *sigh* Sooooo ... was reading a conversation yesterday on Facebook about the closing of the Barnes and Noble on Camp Creek Parkway. *sigh* And of course, like some of yall do to your own people, folks were saying that the reason it closed was because WE dont read and our priorities are skewed. *sigh* Really?? Black people dont read?? Says who?? Who needs the KKK when you have Black people like that saying dumb shit about their own people. Get it right. Bookstores are closing all over the country. Why? Kindle is one reason. Another reason is the internet. Folks order books online now. Also, used book stores are another avenue folks take to get books. And let us not forget that Walmart and Target offer books at a discount. In this economy folks are looking for convenience and the best price. Black folks do indeed read. Borders in Buckhead and Cobb Parkway closed. Are white folks not reading too? Barnes and Noble stores are closing all over. Has nothing to do with Black folks not reading.
