so an adolescent coworker of mine has been victimized by the education system into watching JCs Avatar, the greatest cinematic achievement of all time, as an exploration of what sounds like a really neutered version of body dysmorphism study. Not Im not saying I dont follow the logic. The first 20 minutes of the film does -sort of- explore a disabled person overcoming their limitations (this is not BDD). My problem is that Avatar, and movies like it, are all really PC at their core, and thus totally approachable with any agenda. I have considered, and carefully laid out plans to, use Avatar to start an uprising of aboriginal and indigenous peoples worldwide, BUT YOU DONT SEE ME TEACHING IT IN OUR SCHOOLS.
