so heres a question and i want some honest opinions. So a friend of mine asked for some help with his truck . Its a 92 had an exhaust leak because the donut gasket was leaking , however i looked and because of severe rust i recomended the manifold be replaced. He agreed. and asked if i can do plugs wires cap n rotor at same time so i was like sure nbd, how ever i told him theres an extreemly high chance something willbreak or snap due to severe rust . So i pulled the exhaust manifold and to my surprize i was able to not snap a single boltb or stud. However doing the plugs the third one i tried literally just snapped off flush with the block . So my only choice was using an easy out , which posibly forced some chunks into the cilinder. So the dilemma is that now i need an endoscope to look inside the cylinder to see if when i vacumed if i got the crap out of it . I absolutelly feel uncomfortable continuing untill i know for sure theres nothing in there. Now i really cant afford to buy one nor can the customer . So should it be my responsibility to buy it or his ? Also should i feel like a crap mechanic ? I hear techs talk about this happening to them alot and have seen int the industry . But the customer is kind of uneasy and not seeming to grasp the responsibility. And now the truck is out of comission till i have the tool to look inside which i cant buy for over two weeks . Or does anyone have a endoscope i can borrow . Also i have driven 3 roundrtrips.to his house . So 190 miles . Roughly 10gal of diesel plus time . Should i feel obligated to be compensated.? Any input and thought would be great. Please no sarcasm as im already a bit flustered with the situation , but i also want to help my friend out . And come out ahead financially .
